Leo Petrik how are you and welcome to two-minute networking tips for business success.

This is a new series I have put together to help each and every one of you grow your business through far more effective skills and strategies.

Very successful ones that work are incredibly powerful because there is so simple to implement and easy-to-use.

This series is designed to help you, no matter who you are and what you do in networking. Some people seem to think you have to be in a service industry. Well, to tell you the truth, we all network, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a student, a housewife, working for somebody else as an employed person, working as a contractor or actually running your own business.

The reality is, is that we all network, and we are all about building those networking relationships for our success as well as for the success of others around us, including the businesses that we work for or with.

This is not going to be a two-minute video, obviously, because I am introducing the program to you. But, guess what, you will get a handy tip, and tip one today is actually to ask you this, “What do people remember?”

The interesting challenge is, is that many of us when we look at networking, we often worry about, ’How am I going to present my business?’ ‘ How am I going to present what I do, how I do effectively?’

I’ll let you into a secret folks, the reality is people often don’t care.

You see, when you are making a sale of any kind, there are actually two components to that sale. The first one is, selling yourself first, and the second and least important one in fact is actually selling your goods or services.

Now the thing is, is that if you can’t sell yourself first, IF YOU CAN’T BE REMEMBERED, then, you can forget about trying sale number two because it’s simply not going to happen. It doesn’t matter how good your product is, how well you do what you do, how timely you do it and how inexpensive and profit making it can be for your client. They are not going to be particularly interested, if you can’t sell yourself.

That’s why hint #1 is really, really important.

The reality is, is that you need to be remembered. NOT your business, not products, not your service.

So how do we go about doing that?

Well, in this networking environment we spend so much time worrying about everything else. Very little is actually spent on, making sure you have got a great smile. So stand in front of a mirror once or twice a day, when you get a chance (make sure people don’t catch you doing it, they may get the wrong idea), and chuck on that smile, throw it out there and look at that happy face beaming back at you. Because that’s the face people will see.

Try and get that sparkle in your eye and be excited about what it is you do and why you’re there, when you’re at a networking function.

Because, people are always going to remember you, first and last. What you do and don’t do, is irrelevant.

So putting your best foot forward in a firm handshake, being positive in how you talk and always be positive in your attitude, because nobody likes somebody who bags the opposition or is negative about what is going on in the world. They will be attracted to you because of your positive attitude and happy disposition.

This is one area that people often forget.

Now the thing is, if you do this, one of the challenges for you is, how many people are going to start ringing you, which, by the way will be a far cry from what’s been happening in the past, because they want to get to know you better.

People will ring you because they want to get to know you. They want to spend a bit more time in your positive space and maybe get your opinion on things because you’ve given a ‘considered opinion’ on something you’ve discussed at networking function.

You’ve got to remember, that you are the most important person, for you, when you get there because you’ve got to put your best foot forward. The other side of the coin is, is that the most important person, there, ultimately, is the other person, because you need to find out about them as well.

The challenge here though it is that they won’t to be interested in following up with you, and you may not be interested in following up with them, if YOU don’t feel happy about you.

So put your best foot forward, be the best you, you can be and you’ll be surprised at how comfortable and easy it becomes in your networking ventures.
